What is Root Canal Treatment?
Cavities or other forms of tooth damage that are caught in the earlier stages may be treated with a dental filling or crown restoration. If the decay spreads and reaches the pulp center (inner portion) of the tooth, however, a root canal may be needed to restore health to the tooth. Root canal therapy is a common endodontic procedure offered at ACE Dental of Harker Heights. With this treatment, our general dentists remove the infected pulp tissue from the tooth, fill the pulp and roots with a special material, and then seal the tooth. Root canals can help save infected teeth from requiring extraction and may keep the infection from affecting your general wellness. Please visit our Harker Heights, TX team if you have tooth pain, facial swelling, or other concerning symptoms of a tooth infection. We go the extra mile to provide comfortable care and may offer nitrous oxide sedation to help you feel more relaxed.
Root Canal Therapy Reviews
"After reading the reviews I scheduled my wife for a initial x-ray and exam, after two root canals, seven fillings and a cleaning it is with regret to find out that this dental clinic had such high reviews. This clinic operates understaff, I was informed that there has not been one hygienists or trained dental assistant at this clinic for any of my wife's treatment are treatment plan. During my wife's x-ray one of the front desk staff who assisted the doctor did not use a precaution vest to shield my wife to reduce radiation exposure she said she simply forgot. There is a lack of knowledge between the front desk and the doctor in coordinating what treatment the patient is getting from day to day even delta dental rejected our claim because my wife's data was used to process a claim and not the sponsor. In closing we should all strive to do better and to be better that is why I am writing this review Ace dental you can do better and be better my wife has left your clinic twice without a prescription that you recommended and twice without a treatment plan review; after twenty plus years of military service I think that you would agree Ace dental that this unacceptable dentistry. "They are 🗣🗣100% AMAZING! The office I had been going to, switched up during quarantine and now only had an adults dentist on Monday’s. Well my tooth went crazy on a Tuesday so waiting until Monday was NOT going to happen. A nurse at my job recommended ACE in Harker Heights. I called around 11:15am on Wednesday and was sitting in an exam chair by noon! They did my root canal and the prep work for my crown at 1p! PRETTY FREAKING AWESOME! They are super friendly, helpful, and they are extremely budget friendly compared to some other local places! I ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND THIS OFFICE!"- E.W. / Google / Jan 16, 2021
"From the very first time I stepped into the office everyone has been beyond friendly and helpful. I’ve been 3x in the last week including today for a scheduled root canal which was handled flawlessly. They made sure I was comfortable before during and after the procedure and they made sure to explain what was happening, happened and why. I definitely recommend!!"- J. / Google / Oct 03, 2021
When Is a Root Canal Needed?
Conditions like large cavities, deep cracks, and physical trauma to the teeth may all create a path for harmful bacteria to infect the pulp center of a tooth. When this happens, a root canal may be recommended to bring health, comfort, and function back to your mouth. Common signs and symptoms that may signal the presence of a tooth infection or internal damage are:
- Jaw pain or a toothache
- An abscessed tooth
- A pimple-like lesion on the gums
- Pressure in the jaw
- Swollen gums
- Discomfort when eating
- Darkening or graying of a tooth
- Temperature sensitivity
What Is the Root Canal Process?
Our caring team always strives to make treatment as comfortable and relaxed as possible for our patients. We administer a local anesthetic to thoroughly numb the mouth prior to a root canal. However, we may also provide nitrous oxide sedation to help you feel more at ease throughout your care. To begin the root canal process, one of our experienced dentists will access the pulp layer by creating a small opening in your tooth. After the infected pulp and decayed tooth structure are removed, your tooth will be thoroughly sterilized and fortified with a special type of material. The tooth will then be sealed off with a sedative filling and given some time to heal.
What Can I Expect from Root Canal Recovery?
Once your root canal is completed, any tooth pain or other symptoms that were affecting your tooth should start to subside. Nonprescription pain medication may be recommended to improve your comfort during the recovery phase. If necessary, antibiotics might be prescribed to address any oral infections. We may have you return for a follow-up check a few weeks after your root canal so we can assess your tooth. Dental crowns are often recommended following root canal therapy to help protect and strengthen root canal-treated teeth, as these teeth may be more inclined to crack or break. Our dentists will assess the condition of your tooth and overall health when you visit ACE Dental of Harker Heights for routine preventive care visits.
Are Root Canals Covered by Insurance?
Endodontic treatments, like root canal therapy, may be partially covered by some dental insurance policies. Before the day of your procedure, our financial specialist can review your plan and provide you with an estimate of any personal costs. ACE Dental of Harker Heights proudly offers affordable treatment options to our patients and accepts a range of convenient, budget-friendly payment plans. Our team will be happy to explain your choices and help you select a financial solution fit for your needs.
