About Dental Cleanings
Though you may brush and floss your teeth meticulously each day, having your teeth professionally cleaned at least twice every year is essential to maintaining a healthy smile. A professional dental cleaning, or prophylaxis, removes plaque, tartar, and stain deposits that accumulate on the surfaces of your teeth. When providing these preventive services, the dental hygienists at ACE Dental of Harker Heights can also offer tips on how to keep your teeth and gums healthy between cleanings. Attending regular cleaning visits is important for patients of all ages. Along with enhancing your oral health, these visits also create the perfect chance for one of our caring general dentists to perform a dental exam and screen for any concerns. To schedule dental cleanings for you and your family members, please contact our Harker Heights, TX location today!
Maintaining Oral Hygiene
Your oral health can have a major impact on your general wellness, making good oral hygiene an important factor for more than just your smile. When you floss and brush with a fluoridated toothpaste at least twice each day, you can help minimize your risk of cavities, gum disease, and other oral health issues. Throughout your dental cleaning, we will be sure to point out any areas of your mouth that may require more attention and help you develop a personalized oral hygiene program fit for your needs.
Dental Cleaning Reviews
"After reading the reviews I scheduled my wife for a initial x-ray and exam, after two root canals, seven fillings and a cleaning it is with regret to find out that this dental clinic had such high reviews. This clinic operates understaff, I was informed that there has not been one hygienists or trained dental assistant at this clinic for any of my wife's treatment are treatment plan. During my wife's x-ray one of the front desk staff who assisted the doctor did not use a precaution vest to shield my wife to reduce radiation exposure she said she simply forgot. There is a lack of knowledge between the front desk and the doctor in coordinating what treatment the patient is getting from day to day even delta dental rejected our claim because my wife's data was used to process a claim and not the sponsor. In closing we should all strive to do better and to be better that is why I am writing this review Ace dental you can do better and be better my wife has left your clinic twice without a prescription that you recommended and twice without a treatment plan review; after twenty plus years of military service I think that you would agree Ace dental that this unacceptable dentistry. "I have been weary of dentist visits since i moved to Killeen in 2015 and had a bad experience with a provider on clear creek. I feel very confident leaving a positive review for this clinic. The staff are very friendly and were frequently making sure i was ok. I was able to get my first appointment the next day and was called into the treatment area before my appointment time. I was informed of all procedures that needed to be done with cost break down after my insurance was used. Dr. A did a great job with my deep cleaning and filling my cavities with minimal discomfort. Im glad I have a dentist that I have established care with and will continue to see. Office is nice and clean also."- M.O. / Google / May 12, 2018

Who Is a Candidate for Dental Cleanings?
Patients of all ages should have their teeth cleaned regularly to help keep their teeth and gums healthy and their smiles bright. Professional cleanings remove plaque and tartar, which harbor bacteria, and may lessen the risk of oral diseases. The American Dental Association recommends that patients have their teeth cleaned at a frequency suggested by their dentist. While many patients may need a prophylaxis every six months, some benefit from having their teeth cleaned at shorter intervals. Even infants should visit the dentist for an initial visit before turning a year old, after which our Harker Heights, TX dentists can help their parents determine when the next visit should take place.
What To Expect During Your Visit
Once you are seated comfortably in a treatment room, a member of our hygiene team will begin your dental cleaning. Advanced instruments will be utilized to thoroughly clean your teeth while preserving the integrity of your enamel. An ultrasonic scaler, which works through high-speed vibrations and a water mist, may be used to remove larger tartar and plaque deposits from your teeth. Handscaling instruments will then be used to eliminate any residual buildup. After all of your teeth have been cleaned, they will be polished with a special paste to help diminish any accumulated surface stains. Your hygienist will also show you the ideal techniques to use for maintaining your oral hygiene at home and may suggest products to help improve the health of your smile.
After Your Dental Cleaning
Once your cleaning is complete, one of our general dentists will come in to examine your teeth. If recommended or preferred, a fluoride treatment may also be provided to help protect against tooth decay. Our team can then schedule your next dental cleaning visit. While we generally recommend attending dental cleanings at least two times a year, we may suggest more frequent intervals if you wear braces, have been treated for gum disease, or have other dental concerns. At ACE Dental of Harker Heights, we are pleased to offer convenient hours and appointment times to help you and your loved ones get the care needed for bright, healthy smiles.
Insurance Coverage for Prophylaxis
As preventive dentistry services, dental prophylaxis visits are typically covered biannually under most dental insurance plans. Before you arrive, a member of our billing team will review your policy to learn more about your coverage. ACE Dental of Harker Heights is proud to offer flexible payment methods to make dental care accessible and affordable for patients in our community.
