The Benefits of Veneers
Dental veneers are a popular cosmetic dentistry solution used to enhance the appearance and balance of the smile. Crafted of high-quality porcelain or tooth-colored composite resin, these super-thin custom restorations are applied to the front surfaces of the teeth to mask a wide array of aesthetic concerns — from chipped and yellow teeth to minor gaps. The general dentists at ACE Dental of Harker Heights blend dental science with their artistic skill sets to customize the ideal shape, size, and color of each veneer for beautiful smile results. If you wish to boost the cosmetic appeal of your smile, we would love to help you explore your treatment options. Am I a Candidate for Dental Veneers?
Veneers may be an ideal solution for masking cosmetic flaws in your smile, such as tooth stain, chipped teeth, minor spacing, uneven edges, and slightly crooked or odd-shaped teeth. These restorations may also help improve oral function in some instances, such as when the front teeth are broken. Our ACE Dental of Harker Heights team customizes resin and porcelain veneers to attach evenly over the front portions of the teeth and generate an attractive, natural look. Veneers are often placed in pairs or across the front of the arch to achieve proper balance and aesthetic appeal. Ideal veneer candidates generally have healthy teeth that are free from bruxism (teeth grinding), cavities, and gum disease.
How Are Cosmetic Veneers Placed?
Porcelain Veneers: Placing porcelain veneers is generally a two-step process. To begin, our dentists will remove a layer of enamel from each tooth to allow the veneers to sit evenly within your arch. An iTero digital impression will then be taken of the prepared teeth, which will be used by a professional dental lab to custom-create each veneer to the ideal shape, color, and size. During this time, you will wear a set of temporary veneers to maintain your normal oral function. We will schedule a second visit for you 1 – 2 weeks later to have the temporaries taken off and your new porcelain veneers bonded securely in place.
Chairside Resin Veneers: The process of placing chairside composite resin veneers is often completed within one dental visit since these restorations are created in our office rather than in a dental lab. Our team will prepare your teeth to receive the veneers, which may include removing a small bit of enamel. A composite resin material (in a shade that matches your natural tooth color) will be applied to the front surfaces of your teeth and shaped for an attractive appearance. The composite will then be set (cured), contoured to mimic natural anatomy, and polished for a smooth, even finish.
Caring for Your Restorations
Once your cosmetic veneers are placed, your teeth may feel sensitive to hot and cold temperatures, but this should subside within a few days. You can care for your veneers with brushing and flossing just like you do your natural teeth. Though some types of veneers are stain-resistant, you may still want to limit your consumption of darkly pigmented foods and drinks to help maintain a bright smile. It is also important to avoid biting into ice, your fingernails, or other hard surfaces to avoid chipping or damaging your veneers. Our team will assess the condition of your veneers and teeth when you visit ACE Dental of Harker Heights for routine checkups.
Will Insurance Cover My Treatment?
As an aesthetic dentistry treatment option, dental veneers may not be a covered insurance benefit. But we do not want that to stop you from getting the smile you have always desired! ACE Dental of Harker Heights proudly accepts several affordable payment options, including low-interest financing solutions. We can design a payment plan around your personal budget to help you achieve your cosmetic goals.
